Profile

Prior to teaching at Cal Poly, Eric practiced architecture at several design offices in Los Angeles, London and Paris. While working at Morphosis under Thom Mayne, Eric was a design team member on multiple award winning projects including the University of Cincinnati Student Center, the Science Center Elementary School, the Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank Centre, the Palenque Stadium at Centro JVC, and several design competitions. At Grimshaw Architects in London, Eric was a package leader on the design team for the redevelopment of the historic Battersea Power Station located along the south bank of the Thames River. While at Ateliers Jean Nouvel in London and Paris, he worked on the design and development of the exterior façades for the Walbrook Square project, a 1.4 million sq ft commercial office project located in a historically sensitive area of central London, as well as the Gazprom Headquarters design competition.

His current design research agenda is focused on the creation of affective environments with consideration of an implicit or explicit event. The recent studio installations “Legato”, “Pop!” and “Fog Bank” have utilized the department’s digital fabrication tools for investigatory research into the full-scale production of atmospheric effects.
